Description
Enchanting in Minecraft is where the magic really begins. Enchanting lets you upgrade tools, weapons, and armour with effects. These effects can boost durability, increase damage, or even allow you to walk on water. When starting out enchanting, it’s important to have lots of levels. Enchanting anything in Minecraft will cause your levels to drop. This depends on which level you are enchanting at. There are 3 different enchanting levels that you can access from the enchanting table. To build an enchanting room, you need an enchanting table. You create it by placing four obsidian, two diamonds, and a book into a crafting table. Once you have created your enchanting table you will then need to create bookshelves. To create these you will need to place six planks and 3 books into the crafting table. You will need to create 15 of these bookshelves. Place them around the enchanting table. Leave a one block gap around the enchanting table. To carry out enchanting your items you will also need Lapis lazuli, this is can be obtained by mining. It is very easy to find, so when you are out mining just remember to keep some for enchanting.
Enchanting using the table
Once you have your enchanting room set up then it is time to start enchanting.

This is the layout of the enchanting table when it has been setup to enchant a sword. Notice that the sword goes into the left hand section and the Lapis lazuli into the right hand section. Once you have placed these in, the enchantments show on the panel on the right. If you place your cursor over these they will show you what enchantments you can get.
Enchanting with an anvil
To enchant using an anvil you will need to have an enchanted book. Enchanted books can be obtained by enchanting them at the enchanting table like you would any other item. You can also find them by fishing, in loot chests in structures, and villager trading. They are also inside chests in bastion remnants, desert temples, dungeons, mineshafts, pillager outposts, underwater ruins, and woodland mansions.

This is the layout in the anvil. We place the sword into the left hand slot and place the enchanted book in the centre slot. Place the item that you want to enchant in the right hand slot. As you can see from the screenshot it shows the amount of levels that it will cost you. To accept the item simply drag it into your inventory.

In the anvil, we can place two enchanted items. We can combine them and get one item out. This new item combines the two items into one and will have both enchantments.
Lets now look at trading items.
In Minecraft it is now possible to trade with villagers for enchanted items and enchanted books. These are done the same way as normal trades with villagers. To get an enchanted book, you will have to trade with a librarian. For enchanted armour, you need to trade with an armourer. To get tools, you will need to trade with a tool smith. For weapons, you will need to trade with a weapon smith.
