Description
In this section we will look at smithing. In Minecraft smithing is the process of upgrading your gear. It is especially useful when upgrading from diamond to netherite.
To create a smithing table you will two iron ingots and four wood planks of any type. Place the iron ingots on the top row of the crafting table and the wooden planks on the two rows directly underneath. Once done drag the smithing table into your inventory.
How to use a smithing table
1. Duplicating items
In this first section we will look at how to duplicate the templates. This step is essential as templates are single use. When carrying out improvements to weapons, tools, and armour, the template is used, and it can only be used once. When duplicating your templates you will need to find different items to enable this. See the table below to see what items you will need to duplicate all the templates that are in the game.
2. Upgrading your tools and weapons
Next we will look at the recipe that will enable you to upgrade your tools and weapons to netherite.
When opening the smithing table you will be faced with a layout like the one below. To enable you to upgrade your tools, weapons and armour you will need a netherite upgrade template. This will need to be placed in the left most space. In the centre block place your item to upgrade and finally place netherite ingot in the remaining empty block. Then you can drag your new netherite item into your inventory.

The screenshot shows how to make a netherite sword. To make all other items simply replace the diamond sword with any other tool, weapon or piece of armour. Make duplicates of the netherite upgrade block first. You will use this one when making your netherite item.
