How to trade

Description

In this section we will look at trading. Trading is done when you exchange items with either a wandering trader or a villager. When trading with villagers, each villager has a profession that is assigned by giving them a job block. The job block determines what they can trade. To trade efficiently with villagers, it is a good idea to build a trading hall. This hall will contain all of the jobs that the villagers can have. It becomes easy to trade with them. The wandering trader spawns randomly within a 48 block radius of the player. They will spawn with two llamas that can spit at you and damage you.

The Wandering trader is a passive mob that randomly spawns near players in the over world. It is accompanied by two llamas that are on leashes. Unlike villagers it doesn’t have a profession and is a roaming merchant offering goods.

Wandering traders offer six trades these are made up of five random common items along with one rare item. When trading with the wandering trader you will need emeralds as all trades are done with them. Wandering traders will de-spawn after 40 minutes which is 2 Minecraft days. When attacked the wandering traders will flee like villagers but their llamas will spit at you.

Villagers can be used to trade many items in Minecraft. Their are two different types of trade that you can do with villagers. These are you can trade items to get emeralds. You can use those emeralds to trade with the villagers to get items. Their are many items that you can get off villagers by trading depending what the villagers profession is. Villagers can have 15 different professions depending on what job block they are assigned. When trading with villagers they will also go through different levels, these go Novice -> Apprentice -> Journeyman -> Expert -> Master. It will depend on the profession and the level of the villager for what the villager will trade. If the villager runs out of what you need then they will restock every 10 minutes.

One of the best ways to use villagers for trade is to build a trading hall. This will consist of separate little rooms for each villager. Typically, there is one block in the middle of walls. A job block is placed at the front so that the villager will take on that job.
